Quarterbacks |
| Jacksonville
Jaguars - Bryon Leftwich: Coming
into his 3rd year and ready to take the next
step. In just his second year Leftwich put
up very good numbers: 2,941 YD's, 15 TD's
& 10 INT's. A new west coast style offense
could bring big stats to Leftwich owners.
The hope is second year WR, Reggie Williams,
will step up along side a healthy Jimmy Smith.
#1 pick Matt Jones may have some impact as
well. |
| Cincinnati
- Carson Palmer:
QB with franchise potential. In his first
year of play Palmer threw for 2,897 yards,
18 TD's and 18 interceptions. The Bengals
have many weapons including one of the best
receivers in Chad Johnson. He could take the
next step as a quarterback. |
| Baltimore
Ravens - QB - Kyle Boller: Solid
without anybody to throw to. Give Boller Derrick
Mason, rookie WR Clayton plus more experience
and Boller could take the next step as a very
good Fantasy QB. A healthy Jamal Lewis won't
hurt either. In 2004 he threw for 2,897 yards,
18 TD's and 18 interceptions.
|
| Tennessee
Titans - Billy Volek:
With McNair 's fragility he could play a lot.
Has a great deep arm. 2,486 YDS. - 18 TD's
- 10 INT's in 2004. He will play, it is a
matter of how much and when. |
| Tampa
Bay Buccaneers - Brian Griese:
Came on in 2004 to revive his fantasy career.
Threw for 2,632 yards, 20 TD's and 12 interceptions
in just 11 games. In addition, he completed
an amazing 69.3% of his passes. Griese's numbers
were great and he is capable of doing it again.
He may have found a new home in Tampa Bay
and if so, he is as good as the Marc Bulgers
of the Fantasy Football Draft. |
| Detroit
Lions - Joey Harrington: Has
been given a bad rap by many. Yet his stats
are very good, especially for a 3rd year quarterback
...playing in Detroit. 3,047 yards, 19 TD's
and 12 interceptions in 2004. Lions have a
heck of an offense being put together by Mariucci.
He could throw for 4,000 yards and 30 TD's
...could. |
Keep
an eye on:
Phillip
Rivers. Chris Simms. Drew Henson/Tony Romo.
Patrick Rasmey. Rex Grossman. J.P. Losman. |

Running
Backs |
| Detroit
Lions - Kevin Jones: Last
years rookie sensation rushed for 1,133 yards
@ 4.7 with 5 TD's & 28 receptions. The
Lions are on the verge of actually being good
& he will lead the way. |
| Denver
Broncos - Tatum Bell:
May be the Broncos feature back, which always
means big stats. 396 yards @5.3 & 3 TD's
in 2004. |
| Tampa
Bay Bucs - Carnell Williams: The
5th overall pick has impressed coaches and
is probably starting. Big speed! He could
be the best rookie running back. Good gamble.
|
| Oakland
Raiders - LaMont Jordan:
Al Davis has gambled that Jordan will be a
top running back. 479 yards @ 5.2 & 2
TD's in 2004. Has the tools: power, speed
& hands, but has done little to be a sure-thing. |
| Minnesota
Vikings - Michael Bennet: A back
with elite talent on a big offense...sounds
like a stud, but injuries have prevented that.
Rushed for 1,296 yards @ 5.1 as a rookie.
Could be big if healthy. |
| Arizona
Cardnials - J.J. Arington: Number
one draft pick should start ahead of Shipp.
Arizona's draft picks aren't known for doing
much, but that has to change sometime, right? |
| Cleveland
Browns - Reuben Droughns: The Browns
didn't trade for him to back up Suggs. They
will probably share time, but Droughns should
get the bulk of carries and TD's. |
| Chicago
Bears - Cedric Benson: The third
number one draft pick who should start. He
is a big, hard-running back who could provide
solid fantasy numbers in the Red-Zone. Thomas
Jones will limit his production. |
Keep
an Eye on:
Michael Pittman. Correl Buckhalter. Marcel
Shipp. Travis Henry. Nick Goings. |

Wide
Recievers |
| Detroit
Lions - Roy Williams: Can
take the step and become an elite WR. Last
years 7th pick caught 54 passes for 817 yards
& 8 TD's. Value depends on QB play. |
| Oakland
Raiders - Ronald Curry:
This guy was amazing before season ending
injury. Crowded WR corps, but he still has
the talent to be a stud. 50 - 679 YD's - 6
TD's. |
| Cleveland
Browns - Braylon Edwards: Rookie,
3rd pick. Big time talent, future elite WR.
Depends on who throws, but he ia a worthwhile
gamble, keeper or not. |
| New
Orleans - Donte Stallworth:
Has the speed and potential to have a huge
year, but Joe Horn and dropped passes may
prevent that from happening. A gamble, but
he could blossom and pay big. |
| Carolina
Panthers - Kerry Colbert:
Had a big rookie year with 47 receptions,
754 yards and 5 TD's. Small, but knows how
to get open. A solid fantasy 3rd WR candidate. |
| Jacksonville
Jaguars - Matt Jones:
He is 6-6, 230 pounds and has good speed.
He makes a very interesting target, big wide
receiver, small tight end, h-back, which ever.
The bottom line is he can catch, run and is
6-6. He will play behind Jimmy Smith and Reggie
Williams, but Smith is older and is likely
to miss some games with injury. On the other
side, although Reggie Williams has great potential,
it is only potential right now and that could
open the door for Jones. |
| St.
Louis Rams - Kevin Curtis:
Mike Martz says he is as good as Holt &
Bruce. Wow! That says a lot. He is a speedster
and may get starting time if "old man"
Bruce goes down, otherwise he may be the great
third WR like a Stokley. 32 - 421 - 2 TD's
in '04. |
| Pittsburgh
Steelers - Antwaan Randle El:
With Plaxico leaving to the Giants, Randle
El will start. He should put up pretty good
numbers with an improving Steelers passing
game. 43 receptions, 601 yards, 3 TD's in
2004. |
Keep
an Eye on:
Reggie Williams. Rod Gardner. Antonio Byrant.
Charles Rogers. Koren Robinson. |
|
| |
Tight
Ends |
| Detroit
Lions - Marcus Pollard: Old
name new hope. Pollard can put up bigger numbers
alone in Detroit. He is back on the Fantasy
Tight End radar. |
| Denver
Broncos - Jeb Putzier:
TE is a big position in the Bronco Offense.
36 Rec, 573 YD's & 3 TD's in '04. Could
reach 60 Rec. |
| Philadelphia
Eagles - L.J. Smith: Has all the
skills to be a top TE. Eagles haven't used
him a lot, but that might change. 34 Rec -
377 YD's -5 TD's in 2004. |
| Indianapolis
Colts - Dallas Clark:
Rookie had 25 catches, 423 yards & 5 TD's.
No more Pollard should equal good numbers
for Clark, maybe big numbers. |
|

Kickers |
| NY Jets
- Mike Nugent: Rookie
2nd round pick. That says a lot. Big leg.
Sounds a lot like Janikowski, which was eventually
good. |
| Detroit
Lions - Jason Hanson:
Veteran has always been accurate & had
a strong leg, now Detroit may help him score. |
| Cincinnati
Bengals - Shayne Graham: Was 27 for
31 for 122 points. With the growing Bengal
offense his fantasy value should grow with
it. |
| Minnesota
Vikings - Paul Edinger:
The veteran has a big leg & is now kicking
indoors with a big offense. Points! |
|
| |
Defense |
| Atlanta
Falcons: Excellent
front seven. Lead NFL with 48 sacks. Team
has great pass rush and will produce sacks
and turnovers. |
| Dallas
Cowboys :
The switch to the 3-4 and a big draft should
take the Cowboys defense back to a Parcells-style
defense. |
| Carolina
Panthers: Went downhill in '04, injuries
play a role. Expect a rebound and return to
a very good defense. |
| Buffalo
Bills: Great
pass-rush (45 sacks in '04, third overall).
Also second in interceptions (24). A quietly
great NFL defense. |
