Breakouts: Wide Receivers
|
Donnie Avery
- Rams - The big question
for Avery is will he be 100% recovered from a torn right
ACL injury. He has recently said he is ready to go and
ran a 4.25 forty. Watching him in the preseason will be
key because if he is 100%, he is a top candidate to breakout
in 2011.
With Sam Bradford at the helm the Rams will be looking
for a big-play receiver and Avery has the ability to be
that guy.
The 2008 second-round-pick showed flashes in his first
two seasons as a Ram, even though he didn't have a good
quarterback to throw to him. With Bradford at the helm
and new offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels running the
show, Avery could be poised for a big fantasy season,
particularly in a non PPR league. |
Brian Hartline
- Dolphins - He may have been
a breakout in 2010 if not for his mid season injury, but
still managed 43 reception for 615 yards and 1 touchdown
in 10 games. That projects to about 68 receptions for
980 yards in a full 16 game season.
The key, as usual, will be the quarterback play. Chad
Henne has shown potential, but is still inconsistent.
Nevertheless, he has improved and with Brandon Marshall
on one side of the field and Hartline and the other, the
Dolphins pass game should be very solid. Hartline should
be inline for a 1,000 breakout season if all goes well. |

Breakouts: Running Backs
|
Jahvid Best -
Lions - The 30th pick of the
2010 draft rushed for 555 yards and 4 touchdowns as a
rookie, but only averaged 3.2 yards a pop. He did manage
58 receptions for 487 yards and 2 more touchdowns for
an overall good rookie debut.
Coming into 2011 the hope is a healthy Matthew Stafford
will give the Lions a more consistent offense and take
the pressure of Best allowing him to have a big 2011 fantasy
season. |
Bernard Scott
- Bengals - It seems more
and more likely that Cedric Benson will not return to
the Bengals and if he doesn't it could open the doors
for a Bernard Scott breakout season.
He didn't get much of a chance in 2010, but has rushed
for a solid 620 yards at 4.6 yards per carry in his two
seasons as a back up.
If he gets the chance to start, his big play ability could
lead him to a very good fantasy season, even in Cincinnati. |
|
Breakouts: Tight Ends
|
Jimmy Graham
- Saints - It took a while
for the 3rd-round draft pick to get involved in the offense
but looked great, especially in the end zone catching
4 touchdown passes in the final three games. Overall he
finished his rookie campaign with 1 reception for 356
yards and 5 touchdowns.
WIth Shockey now gone in New Orleans the tight end position
is all grahams and he will be poised for a breakout 2011
season. |
