C Sleepers |
| Reggie
Bush
- An easy pick as a "sleeper". Could be
an immediate star with his big-play potential. His
true fantasy value for 2006 is a bit murky with
the Deuce in the backfield. |
| DeAngelo
Williams
- The former Memphis star goes in to camp as a back
up for the often-injured DeShaun Foster. As we said,
often-injured. |
| Laurence
Maroney
- Another good Minnesota running back comes to the
pros. The #1 pick of New England won't start, but
the aging Corey Dillon is no shoe-in to finish the
season injury free. |
| Joseph
Addai
- The Colts #1 pick from LSU will fight Dominic
Rhodes for the starting job. Even if he doesn't
win it in training camp, he could grab the job as
the season progresses. |
Maurice
Drew
- A serious long shot here, but we all know the
Fred Taylor story. Jacksonville's #2 pick out of
UCLA is small, Emmitt Smith-esk, and even with Greg
Jones on the goal line he could surprise as a rookie
and steal the starting spot by season's end. |
| Vince
Young
- He will not start right away, and likely won't
have much fantasy value if he does. But you never
know. Young has all the abilities to be a fantasy
goldmine. Could make a nice keeper league pick,
but he probably is 2 full seasons away from fantasy
stardom. |
| Phillip
Rivers
- Coming into his third season and has been handed
the starting job. The Chargers would not have let
Brees go if they did not believe in him. Think Carson
Palmer in your 2, but maybe a little better. Having
LT takes the pressure off and there is nothing like
a good tight end to build his confidence. Makes
a good late round gamble. |
| Charlie
Frye
- He is not a nobody. He ranks third all-time on
the MAC career passing yards list, ahead of NFL
standouts Ben Roethlisberger and Chad Pennington.
In his second season he has the young Braylon Edwards
and the veteran Joe Jurevicius along with Kellen
Winslow to throw to. Another good late round gamble
in big QB leagues. |
|
Roddy White-
The #1 pick of the Falcons in 2005 has been working
in the off season with Vick. He could become the
#1 WR in Atlanta and come with some very solid fantasy
numbers. |
| Scottie
Vines -
A shocker that a team with so many high picks could
have their #2 be a free agent. He must be good.
Vines caught 40 passes for 417 yards as a undrafted
rookie. Kitna should upgrade all Lion WR's statistics
in 2006. |
Arnaz
Battle -
If Alex Smith can become a legitimate NFL QB, Battle
will be the recipient of the fantasy goods. He caught
32 passes for 363 yards & 3 TD's in his 3rd
season & enters as the 2006 season in a battle
for the #1 slot with along with Antonio Bryant. |
| Santonio
Holmes -
A long shot, even as the Steelers #1 pick. They
just don't throw enough, but if they throw more
or Hines Ward goes down, Holmes could sneak in as
a decent fantasy player. Great deep WR. |
Vernon
Davis -
The sixth overall pick by the 49ers will start and
could become an instant fantasy starter. Young QB's
need a good tight end to dump it off to and Davis
should be Alex Smith's man. |
